Do any characters grow or change during the course of the novel? Sydlynn is the main character and she changes a lot . She grows up, learns to become close to her family and to accept her destiny. While it may sound like any other young adult book, give this book a chance and you'll definitely be surprised.

What motivates a given character’s actions? Sydlynn's ultimate motivation is that she wants to protect her family. She uses her power, which she was never keen on to start with, to help save them. Although it may seem like fight evil with evil in some parts of the book, her actions are justified in the end.

Which characters do you particularly admire or dislike? I admire Quaid and in comparison to Brad, the character development itself was the best for him and Sydlynn. I didn't really care much for Dominic, found him to be shallow and almost unnecessary in the story.
